Description of the Company:
Russia’s largest private bank. This high-tech full service bank provides a complete package of services for its corporate and private clients. It is one of the most reliable and diversified financial companies in Russia. It is a top-five largest Russian bank by size of assets and equity. The Bank runs the second largest branch network in the country; it has subsidiary banks and representative offices in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, London, New York and Amsterdam. According to audited IFRS financial statements for 2005, the assets of Alfa-Bank Group (OJSC Alfa-Bank, subsidiary banks and financial companies) amounted to US$9.8 billion, net profit was US$181 million, authorized capital was US$856 million, and its credit portfolio was US$5.7 billion. The Bank services about 40,000 corporate clients and over 1.5 million individual customers.

Investment Idea of the Project:
Creation of a leading company in Russia’s growing banking sector.

Role of the Investor:
Initial organizational, investment and managerial momentum to develop the Bank. Later, Alfa-Bank was split off into separate lines of business within Alfa-Group consortium.
