About the Company

Alfa Group created Alfa Distressed Assets (ADA) within the Consortium in order to accumulate and manage non-core assets in a sum over USD 1 billion. The assets were obtained as a result of the restructuring of troubled loans initially issued by Alfa-Bank.

Sale of the assets at the highest price. Now the project is at the final stage. Under the framework of the project, successful work was carried out with the paybles of such structures as Amtel-Vredestein Tyre Concern, Donetsk Electrometallurgical Plant, MIAN Development Company, and numerous other large enterprises.

Alfa-Carbon

About the Company

Specializes in services for the registration and sale of quotas for greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Kyoto Protocol. Alfa-Carbon supports enterprises in reconstruction and new construction in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, its registration with the Russian and international authorities as emission quotas, and sale of these quotas in the global carbon markets.

Project Investment Concept

Alfa-Carbon is one of the first companies in the industry to build up a portfolio of contracts with major customers – Russian industrial enterprises and well-known international companies. The development of this market is driven by significant demand for quotas on the part of the developed countries and a future boom of investments in ecological and energy-conservation technologies.

BelMarket

About the Company

BelMarket is being established as a start-up project, using the similar experience in creation of the leading Russian food store retailer – Perekryostok. BelMarket acquires, rents and builds convenience stores in residential areas in Minsk, and in regional centres and municipalities. The network offers the country's best standards of service and the best value for money, uses modern retail technologies and equipment, and a trading IT platform which is unique for Belarus.

Project Investment Concept

This leading company (49 shops) and the first national chain of food supermarkets in Belarus was created from a start-up company in the highly promising national market of large food retail stores. The company has further considerable growth potential. The project co-investor is the International Financial Corporation (IFC).

Kronverk Cinema/Formula Kino

About the Company

At the end of 2007, the holding Eurasia Cinemas B.V was created, currently being the controlling owner of Kronverk Cinema. Kronverk Cinema is the largest cinema chain in Russia's north-west region. By 31 December 2011, it includes 19 movie theatres (17 in Russia and 2 in Ukraine) in which there are about 130 cinema halls.

 In January 2012 A1 announced an acquisition of 55.66 percent of shares of the Formula Kino cinema network.  As of 31 December 2011, the number of the Formula Kino movie theatres totalled 14 with 90 movie halls. Thus, Kronwerk Cinema and Formula Kino networks jointly attain the leading position in the major Russian cities - Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, and Novosibirsk, with a 7-percent share (the second place) in the Russian Federation's market by the number of movie theatres.

А1, together with its partners, including Alfa Capital Partners, controls about 50% of the company. It is ont of the top five car dealers in Russia with the highest volumes of car sales, vehicle repairs and servicing. Acts as a dealer for Audi, BMW, Volkswagen, Land Rover, Jaguar, Volvo, Mazda, Ford and Peugeot. Independence owns 15 retail outlets and 14 service centres, and Independence-Finservice Company.

Remet S.A.

About the Company

A joint venture of Palmira Resources, an A1 subsidiary company, and the Cuban state company Commercial Caribbean Nickel for extraction of nickel from spoil dumps of the Nicaro nickel industrial complex and its further processing. In terms of its reserves of metals – nickel, cobalt, chrome and iron - this man-made deposit is comparable with large world analogues.

Project Investment Concept

Establishing of pilot production, analysis of economic feasibility of extracting of various metals, and of nickel extraction using a technology developed by Russian specialists. In the long term – achievement of high project profitability, which will provide launching padfor entry into the Cuban mining industry.
